Starlink vs NBN

Why is Starlink better than the NBN?

Why is Starlink better than the NBN Satellite (Skymuster / SkyMesh)

Skymesh Vs Starlink | Is Starlink better than NBN?

Starlink offers a a faster and much more reliable internet service because the Satellites are within lower orbit and there are more satellites compared to the NBN. The NBN Satellites (last time we heard, two satellites to service Australia) are higher in orbit, which means a longer distance to travel resulting in a longer response time (also known as latency).

Look at it this way, the NBN Satellites is a small 2 or 3 lane road with some traffic lights for multiple people resulting in lower speeds and response times. Starlink is a highway with 8, 10 and more lanes with no traffic lights resulting in faster speeds and response times.

You can view what speeds to expect with Starlink here.

Why is Starlink better than the NBN?

Starlink offers a faster and much more reliable internet service because the Satellites are in lower orbit and there are more satellites compared to the NBN. There are over 7,000 satellites worldwide and they are constantly moving in low earth orbit! SpaceX launches an average of 60 new satellites a week!

The NBN Satellites are higher in orbit, which means there is a larger distance for communication of your data to and from your dish, resulting in a longer response time (also known as latency). Also, there are fewer (last time we heard, only two satellites!) NBN Satellites, which results in slower internet as every other user has to use the same bandwidth provided.

Upgrading to Starlink can service you better than NBN Fixed Wireless or Satellite!

Is Starlink better than NBN?

Depending on your NBN Technology available, Starlink can offer you a faster and much more reliable internet service.

Starlink offers a reliable internet service because the Satellites are within lower orbit and there are more satellites compared to the NBN.

For example, the NBN Satellites are higher in orbit which means a longer distance for data transmissions to travel resulting in a longer response time (also known as latency). Also, there are fewer NBN Satellites which results in slower internet as every other user has to use the same bandwidth provided.

Where we have completed Starlink Installations
The Process
Site Survey
Before installing Starlink or requesting a service, we will assess your site to ensure optimal performance. This assessment can be conducted remotely or in person, depending on your location and potential obstacles. Our goal is to confirm that Starlink is the best solution for you and that your location will support a reliable Starlink connection.
Finalise Order
After completing the site survey, we will provide you with a final order detailing the installation process, core components, and any additional parts that may be needed. Your approval of this order is required for us to proceed with the installation.
Equipment Order
Once your order is approved and the initial payment is received, we will purchase any additional parts needed. If you haven't done so already, this is the time to place your order for the Starlink equipment and service.
Installation
After all parts have been received and you have your Starlink equipment, we will schedule a date for your installation.
This unfortunately can be subject to weather.
