When does the plan activate when ordering via Starlink?
“You’ll receive your first monthly service bill upon activating your Starlink, or 30 days after shipment, whichever comes sooner”
I ordered via Starlink, can I pause my plan immediately?
You can pause service prior to activation in order to not be billed for the first invoice. You can pause service through your Account page (via starlink.com) once your Starlink has shipped. Subsequently, the first bill will generate when you un-pause/reactivate your service.
How does it compare to the NBN 100/40?
Here’s a comparison based on the information available:
- Download Speeds: Similar to NBN 100/40, Startlink offers comparable download performance, most often more than 100 Mbps on a consistance basis.
- Upload Speeds: Variable for Starlink, ranging between 10 Mbps and 40 Mbps, whereas NBN 100/40 should consistently provides 40 Mbps upload.
- Latency: Likely higher with Starlink compared to NBN, as satellite-based internet generally has higher latency than fixed-line connections.
- Overall Performance: The experience will depend on the quality and reliability of your current NBN connection. Starlink may offer a competitive alternative for download speeds, but the variability in upload speeds and higher latency may affect certain applications like video calls or online gaming.
Do you need to use referral for purchase of kit, or can it be used in the plan activation?
You need to use the referral upon purchase and that is then tracked. Then when you activate, you have to pay the full first month and your 2nd month becomes free.
Will the referral benefit work if we buy the hardware from Bunnings or Officeworks?
It used to, but I believe it doesn’t lately. I haven’t been able to test and confirm lately.
I often say to people, order via Starlink you pay for delivery but you get an extra month free (still save about $100) and its also linked to your account ready to go. No need to stuff around with KIT IDs and then account setups.
I forgot to use the referral when ordering, can support apply it?
Unfortunately not. Starlink support will not back date referrals.
We can come to you and have a chat about installation solutions
